Upon completion of a Photography Diploma in June 2006 Roddy graduated with Merit from Glasgow Metropolitan College in November of that same year.
During his studies, Roddy developed a working relationship with some of the leading Broadsheet Newspapers in his home country of Scotland with his press work being recognised by his shortlisting for the title of ‘Scottish Young Photographer of the year for three consecutive years in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
He celebrated the beginning of his freelance career with a commissioned exhibition project by St Mungo’s Museum of Religious Life to document the Afro Carribbean communities of Glasgow, a project which was well received by the community and national media; the Guardian listing the work as ‘one of the top then things to see with your weekend.’
The same year he was selected to take part in The Missouri Photo Workshop, studying under instruction from Picture Editors and Photographers from National Geographic and Time by invite of The University of Missouri’s School of Photojournalism.
Since then he has worked to develop a wide client base working on a variety of projects with individuals and organisations, both in large commercial enterprises and smaller enterprises particularly in the non profit sector.
As a small business owner he has also returned to some of his pre photography studies in Communications and Media and now undertakes a variety of web design work in addition to wider consultancy for mainly small business and charity clients.
His work continues to take him travelling across the world, having now completed journeys across five continents and 18 countries.
