I realise that not everybody enjoys being in a studio environment which is why the majority of my portrait work is based on location.
I aim to keep sessions as relaxed as I can and allow for the children being photographed to get used to the idea of having a camera around so usually spend the first while talking to the kids and seeing if they are happy to let me share their toys!
Likewise with newborns I have learned to adapt to circumstances and allow plenty time inbetween having some photos taken for babies to have a feed, etc. Sessions can take place in the comfort of your own home or a suitable location of your choice and where possible time will be spent both outdoors and indoors.
For Newborn sessions I require an indoor location with a good sized window to give good natural light as the newborns are usually more posed, should it be easier you are welcome to come and visit me in my home studio for newborn sessions.
Once children have become more mobile I advise photographing them in a location with which they will be familiar and comfortable and where possible somewhere that will offer both indoor and outdoor options.
