Drone Photography throughout the Highlands

Inverness Aerial Photography

Drone capture can open up a whole new realm of possibilities, from capturing images and video in a new perspective, or recording content for use in aerial surveys and reporting.

With an increasing need of high quality imagery for use across a range of communication and marketing platforms, aerial photography allows the opportunity to give a fresh perspective on your content needs, raising your content quite literally to a new level.

What would have previously been incredibly expensive, if not impossible imagery to capture, can now often be achieved by drone capture, providing the right access and conditions, and relevant permissions are obtained, if necessary.

Based in Inverness, I cover projects throughout the Scottish Highlands, working with a wide range of clients to help capture your content. Past projects include clients in the tourism sector, construction projects, engineering project documentation, environmental site surveys as well as architects, landowners and creative agencies.

I am  a qualified, experienced and fully insured drone operator, operating under license from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to ensure safe flight operations, along with balancing the creative direction needed to capture the best available content.

In addition to drone operations, as a photographer and creative with 20 years of experience I am able to offer a full range of creative services, including the pre production and post production services needed to plan your shoot and edit the finished content into a wide variety of uses, to help increase the value of your project investment.

Complemented with a range of on the ground photography and videography capture, alongside design and copywriting services through our sister business Tentmaker Creative, we are able to combine a wide range of creative skills to help elevate your content

Frequently asked Questions

I’ve compiled a list of some of the questions I am asked most frequently, and the answers to those questions. Have another that’s not answered here? Get in touch, I’d be happy to help.

Where can we fly?

Drone flights can take place in most outdoor spaces, as long as it is safe and legal to fly, and that airspace regulations don’t restrict use of the drone. Restrictions apply in some areas, such as airports and near military zones and in areas that would be affected by airspace operations.

As a responsible and licensed drone operator I undertake a range of pre flight checks before the drone is operated and operate a professional use drone that will restrict flight operations if it is not possible or safe to fly.

Can we capture drone content indoors?

Yes, indoor flights are becoming increasingly possible and popular. While most drones are suited to outdoor flights, some indoor spaces can now benefit from drone content capture where the space is large enough and the conditions are suitable. Thais can be particularly beneficial to help showcase warehouse space, showrooms and event space.

What happens if the weather prevents us from flying?

If the forecast looks like it might be restrictive to flying at our chosen time I’ll be happy to offer a range of alternative suggestions. Flight can be restricted in the event of poor weather both to ensure safe operation but also ensure the best available circumstances in which to shoot content.

While weather can sometimes change plans, it hasn’t so far restricted flight entirely – even in the Scottish Highlands!

Do we need insurance and permissions to operate drone equipment?

No, you shouldn’t. As the drone operator, I am insured with public liability insurance and operate under the UK Civil Aviation Authority’s rules where required for commercial drone work.

Depending on where and what you hope to capture, you may want to inform neighbouring organisations of your intention to fly. If you require me to fill out a RHAMS form for your site pre-flight, please just let me know.

Can you also edit the footage?

Yes, I can. I offer a range of content production services through my sister business, Tentmaker Creative. I’ll be happy to advise on uses for your captured content to help you realise the value from your investment, or supply footage for use by your internal editing teams.

Aerial Photography Case Studies

View some of my past projects

Bairds Malt

Having worked with Bairds Malt on a range of projects, I’ve captured aerial content on a range of projects, including aerial photography of their suppliers, their malt plant operations and in capturing content of malt delivery at some of their distilling customers.

The drone was particularly useful in helping to capture later stage development of their Inverness Malting expansion, helping to showcase the scale of the operation in more detail than would have been possible from the ground alone.

Morrison Construction

I captured content on behalf of Morrison Construction as they led a project of maintenance works on a hard to reach dam wall at Glenlatterach Reservoir. The works required use of a helicopter to lift a range of construction materials into a river valley below the dam wall, in order for maintenance work to be carried out.

My role was to capture content both from a ground level, and fly the drone to capture aerial content while the helicopter was in operation.

Rowan Guesthouse Group

Aerial content was captured on behalf of The Rowan Guesthouse Group for use in their marketing materials, including their refurbished websites which our sister business Tentmaker Creative were asked to review.

The drone was utilised to capture some new images of the exterior of the property, including showing its central location to prospective visitors. Additional aerial capture of surrounding landmarks was also captured by drone to help highlight the range of activities that visitors to the area would be able to see.
