Scottish Highlands Wedding Venues

The Highlands are home to a range of incredible wedding venues, from large and small hotels, castles, estates and much more beyond.

Undoubtedly, one of the great things about the Highlands, is that you can almost be married anywhere – and with so many beautiful landscapes to choose from, it’s easy to see why so many people choose to make The Scottish Highlands one of their key places to come to for a destination wedding.

As a photographer based in Inverness, it’s been my pleasure to visit and photograph at a wide variety of Highland wedding venues, and to discover all of the landscapes in between, for capturing the all important wedding photos.

Scottish Highlands Wedding Venue FAQS

Here’s a list of some of the questions that I am asked most frequently, if you have others, I’d love to hear from you.

What's the best time of year for a Highland wedding?

The seasons all offer something different for a Highland wedding, although I personally love to colours in autumn.

Spring and summer are a great option for longer daylight hours, with winter weddings offering a great option for quieter and sometimes more intimate weddings.

Can we have an outdoor ceremony?

Yes, lots of venues offer the option of having an outdoor ceremony, and with the laws in Scotland you can arrange to have your ceremony almost anywhere.

We're just planning a small wedding, do we need a venue?

I’d always reccommend having a space to base yourself, regardless of the size of wedding you hope to have.

Whether it’s a cosy cottage for two, or a country house with space for a marquee in the garden – having a space to base yourself means you have space to unwind and explore before or after the wedding day.
