Relaxed and Candid Wedding Photography in Inverness & the wider Scottish Highlands

Inverness Wedding Photographer

Natural Moments captured in a relaxed and enjoyable way

As an Inverness wedding photographer, I specialise in capturing relaxed, and candid images that reflect the atmosphere of your day, whether you’re celebrating with a big hotel wedding, eloping by a loch, or having a heartfelt gathering close to home.

Inverness is the perfect location for weddings of all shapes and sizes. With its historic buildings, rugged landscapes, and ever-changing Scottish light, the Highlands provide an extraordinary backdrop for your celebration. I work with local couples and those visiting from overseas, helping to capture all of the stages of your wedding day in a relaxed and unobtrusive manner.

My Approach

Natural, Unobtrusive, Storytelling Photography

I know that people rarely enjoy having their photos taken, I’m the same!

My photography style aims to put you at ease. I don’t believe in overly posed or stiff portraits. Instead, I focus on capturing moments as they naturally unfold – in between moments, the laughter, and the tears.

I’ll aim to give you a range of options as to what and where I think the best photos are likely to be captured on your wedding day, and where you need it I’m here to offer some direction, but for the most part I’m standing back, watching the day through a lens.

Most couples say they barely noticed I was there – and that’s exactly how it should be. I aim to blend in with your guests, making sure you feel completely at ease, while quietly capturing all the magic happening around you.

Along with the candid coverage of your wedding, I’ll also aim to capture a selection of portraits of you both together, and a collection of group photos that you would like to have with your family and friends.

As with all stages of your photography, those stages are designed to be relaxed and natural, often set against the stunning Highland landscape, with minimal interruption to your day.

Frequently asked questions about wedding Photography

Some information you may like to know – if you have other questions, please get in touch.
What is your wedding photography style?
My photography style focuses on candidly capturing the story of your day, while mixing in a number of group shots to capture your friends and family.

While concentrating on the candid coverage of the day, I work with nine chapters of the day – to make sure I can cover as much of the detail as possible. I’ll always provide couples with a sample schedule before the wedding, so that you can let me know the details of the wedding, names of your bridal party etc.

Do you only photograph weddings in the Highlands?
No, I cover weddings all over Scotland, and further afield!

I’ve been privileged to photograph weddings in India, Alabama, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Colorado. If you are planning a wedding a little further afield, please get in touch – I’d love to hear from you.

Can you recommend a good videographer?

Yes, I have a few videographers that I am always happy to recommend.

Mikey Wescott and Chas Whatmore are two of the teams that I work with most often, but please get in touch if you would like some advice before booking your wedding videographer.

How far in advance should we book?

I typically book larger weddings 12–18 months in advance, especially for peak season dates between April – October. However, I occasionally have last-minute availability, so it’s always worth asking. Smaller weddings and elopements are often booked at a couple of months (or weeks!) notice.

Do you cover Elopements?
Yes, elopements are some of my favourite jobs to cover – I especially love being able to go and explore parts of the beautiful Scottish Landscape with a wedding couple.

If you are planning an elopement, you might like to take a look at my Highland Heart packages, designed specifically for Elopements and Small Weddings.

Do you offer a midweek discount?
Occasionally I will offer a midweek discount for wedding booked for an available date during the months of April to October. Midweek bookings refer to Monday – Thursday weddings and discounts are not available on my base package or Highland Heart Packages.
Will we have digital copies of our photos?
Yes, all of the images that make your final cut (post edit) are supplied to you digitally.

Images are normally provided on a USB, with an additonal password protected gallery online and a collection of images from your session presented in a digial album – perfect for mobile phones and tablet devices.

Do you offer albums and prints?

Yes – I offer a range of beautiful wedding albums and professional print options from Loxley Colour. These can be added to your package should you like.

Where are the best locations for Inverness Wedding Photography?

Inverness has a range of great venues, each with a variety of beautiful backdrops.

There’s also a great range of places to capture beautiful images in the landscape, whether you’re venturing out for a quick break from your wedding party or making more of the landscape to explore further.

Inverness Wedding Photography Packages

I offer a range of packages, from half-day coverage to full-day storytelling. All packages include a pre-wedding consultation, high-resolution digital images, and an online gallery.

My packages for larger weddings (of 30+guests) start from 6hrs coverage to full day coverage.

For smaller weddings and elopements, my Highland Heart Packages range from 4hrs for smaller elopements and couples shoots to all day sessions for those who would like to explore more of the Scottish landscape in their images.

Highland Heart Elopements

One of my favourite things to capture, it's my pleasure to capture little weddings for couples coming to explore the Scottish Highlands from all over the world.

  • Thank you so much for being the perfect photographer at Sarah and Rich's wedding last weekend!  You indeed were almost invisible in the house.. and you demonstrated an excellent sense of humour at all times.  Wedding photos can become very dull but you managed to make t fun..

It was a wonderful day from church service to the last bars of Auld Lang Syne, with a very very happy couple, and good intermixing of the two sides of the family. Even the weather was perfect!

Thank you again.. your photography made it fun.. such a very rare talent.

  • Roddy is incredible! He was booked out for our wedding day so we did a day after shoot.

He knew the most incredible spots that were completely hidden from plain sight and actually had to hike to access.

I cannot recommend him and his work enough.
